The Taipei Design, Action! Program, which arose from a neighborhood project, was launched in Taipei in 2012 and is now entering its fifth year. The concentrated design mobilization project utilizes a benign approach to explore street aesthetics and social issues, as well as promote inter-disciplinary dialog so that the power of design can continue to grow.
In 2016, a series of projects are being launched. Street merchants sell Memory Bubblegum, free Pop-Up Shop provide a venue for second-hand clothing to be exchanged, and designers organize tea parties which take place on the streets. These projects provide opportunities for the public to join in for discussions and exchanges. Super Kids workshops and Design Revamped workshops bring design into school campuses to encourage students to pay closer attention to their living environment. Teachers are going to implement the design-thinking concepts in practical. Furthermore, the various transforming projects are aimed at different locations and participants. Taipei Design, Action! is planting the seed of "design thinking" into different sectors and age groups. We hope that we can inspire the members of the community from a young age to see the social impact they can achieve so that "Adaptive City: Design in Motion" can continue in Taipei and transform the city into a better and more livable space.
